At university we are getting more involved with technology and the digital side of graphic design. I am currently looking at Web Standards, which looks at making the web for all and it is our responsibility to make the web available for everyone.

Our tutor asked us to design and code an website that was a ‘playground’ of work that we wouldnt necessarily put in our portfolio, but we want to showcase anyway. This website did not have to stick to our branding - but be a bit more creative. We needed to

  1. Showcase 3 pieces of work
  2. I also added an about the designer page
  3. I also added a contact page with a contact form

Mine ended up showing a top view of a desk with my sketches on top.The typography was very simple and worked well with a rover over the navigation. The images also link to a light box to show the work larger than the thumbnail.

  1. Who are they?
  2. What are their skills?
  3. How can I contact them?
  4. Oooooh, a CV… Lets download that.
  5. Must include picture of the designer

Mine ended up being very simple and cute and represents me as a brand, you do not need to be over the top to have beautiful design and clean type. I am skill going to work on this and add WebFonts so I do not have to use an image for my title text in the header space.

Britain Then. Britain Now; A Design Dissertation by Me.

This is my dissertation I had to write and produce for the last year of my degree. It looked at the role of the poster in Britain; during World War II and now and questioning the future of the printed form.

The dissertation came in two parts inside of a bespoke made slipcase. The first book having creamy, textures paper using serif/old fashioned typefaces and design. The second book has crisp white paper with serif modern typography and design. The covers reflect the nature of posters contained in each book.
